Robert Lee Roundy, better known as Bob, escaped his body to meet the Savior he trusted in the early morning hours of July 15, 2025. His life was characterized by faith and evangelism. He loved to share the good news of Christ's salvation with any and all who would listen, and sometimes even with people who didn't want to listen. Bob had a wealth of scripture memorized and sought to live by it. He had a ready smile and a pun for everything. In a group Bob was often content to listen rather than talk, though he loved to preach in his later years. His hugs were a hallmark of his later years. In the weeks before his death Bob asked friends to pray that he would remain joyful despite the challenges of the disease that was wreaking havoc on his body.

Bob was born on October 4,1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Willard & Mary (Seely) Roundy. He is survived by his wife Joyce and children Curtis (Anita), Cynthia (Garry), and Jonathan (Jenny) as well as his grandchildren Justin (Kaitlyn), Renee, Barbara, Anaya, Kiana, Kevin, Kaleb (Haley), Emmanuel, Elena, James, Jada, Hayden, and Ian.

Bob loved to study and started his post-secondary education at Wheaton Bible College as a math and physics major. He also participated in the men's glee club, singing and traveling. Although Bob had nearly completed his degree, he sensed God's call to missions and transferred to Washington Bible College in his senior year, adding several years to his bachelor's degree before attending seminary at Capitol Bible Seminary. He and Joyce fell in love during their time at WBC, despite their initial assurance that they were "just friends". Bob and Joyce were married on August 17,1968. For nearly 57 years they served together as partners in the Gospel, using their complementary gifts as a dynamic ministry team.

Bob and Joyce raised their three children, Curtis, Cynthia and Jonathan in Venezuela. They loved their kids and spent hours as a family playing games, reading books aloud, and swimming in the river. As the family grew with the addition of spouses and grandkids, Bob did battle in prayer for them. He was generous and loved buying meals for his kids as well as helping with other expenses when he could.

Bob and Joyce served with the Orinoco River Mission from 1971-1978, working with the Sanoma people in Carona. When ORM shifted focus away from working in villages, they joined New Tribes Mission and ministered among the Yanomami people for many years. They were stretched by their years in language and culture study and loved it when Bob could teach. Bob and Joyce served in the finance office in Puerto Ayacucho for the remainder of their 25 years with NTM. They became involved in a small church in town toward the end of that time. Bob moved into a role of pastoring that church and served with the Iglesia Buenas Nuevas til 2018. Bob's hugs were a hallmark of his ministry during this time. Bob handed off the pastoral ministry to a wonderful Venezuelan couple before he and Joyce returned to the US at the recommendation of the church, where he remained pastor emeritus. Bob and Joyce continue to facilitate aid to Venezuelan brothers and sisters. Over the four decades Bob and Joyce spent in Venezuela it became home, and part of Bob's heart remained with the church they left behind.
