Robert A Boylan 6/18/1936-3/11/2025 Patricia L Vines 1/24/1940-3/10/2025
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert A Boylan and Patricia l Boylan (Vines)
Patricia passed March 10th after a lengthy battle with dementia. Robert went on the next day after hanging on fiercely and enduring pain.
Robert Boylan was preceded in death by his sisters Amy, Betty, Katherine, Rae, Rosemary, and Mary Anne as well as his brother Jack (wife Ducky) and special brother in laws Harry Vint and James Holcomb
Robert lost his parents John Raymond and Nora when he was very small and lived in a series of foster homes and orphanages until the age of 14 when his big sister Betty and her new husband Harry Vint took him into their home where he was able to thrive and enjoyed wrestling and football as a Kokomo Wildcat. After high school he worked on a survey crew in the Florida swamps and was able to travel to many parts of the country including Hawaii and even Cuba working for his brother in law James Holcomb. He returned to Indiana where he met the love of his life Patricia Vines. It was his dream to operate his own business. He operated several in partnerships before coming to Muncie in 1967 when he and James Holcomb purchased Burkies Drive In. He and Pat retired to Florida full time in 2003. They enjoyed being part of the South Pasadena bridge club where they met special friends Kip and Nancy. Bob and Pat were both Life Masters in duplicate bridge.
Patricia Boylan was preceded in death by her father and mother Robert I Vines and Nella L. Vines (Davis).
Patricia was born in Covington Kentucky where she had many fond memories.
Pat excelled in school and could read any of the Latin languages. She went on to Indiana University where she enjoyed college life and was a member of

. She obtained a degree in nursing and worked at the IU med center in Indianapolis and at the Indianapolis 500 medical tent. Shortly after graduation she met her husband Robert whom she married in 1961. Pat taught her children to read and to respect right and wrong. She was proud to have raised four college graduates. She did all the things moms do including some stints as a den mother and field trip monitor.
She was a big Frank Sinatra fan with a vinyl collection she kept all her life and enjoyed cards, games and puzzles. She took an interest in genealogy from her mother and researched when it was more difficult than it is now.
They are survived by four children. Carol Teeters (Terry), Scott Boylan (Sherry), Sharon Boylan, John Boylan (Barbara) Six Grand children Tim, Chris, Molly, Michael, Jack and Phoebe, 3 great grandchildren Elise, Margot and Guinevere as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
