Robert "Bob" Neal Bernard, 83, of Apopka, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025. Born on June 3, 1942, to Harry Merrill Bernard and Gertrude M Neal in Windham, Vermont, Bob lived a life defined by devotion to family, service to others, and a deep well of kindness and humor that touched everyone he met.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bob served his country with honor for four years. Following his service, he began his professional career at Sylvan Lake Phone Company, where his precision and technical skill were highly valued. He later worked in appliance sales at Home Depot, where his friendly personality and deep product knowledge made him a favorite among both customers and coworkers. His strong work ethic and mechanical aptitude ultimately led him to a fulfilling career at Assured Appliance, where he was known not only for his technical expertise but also for his generosity in mentoring others and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Bob was the true patriarch of his family — a loving and devoted husband to Shirley G. Bernard; a cherished father to Audrey Bernard, Robert Bernard Jr., Tracey Bernard, Amy Bernard, and Jason Bernard; and a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He carried the memory of his beloved son Matthew Bernard and grandson Nicholas Bernard in his heart always. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Alby Bernard and Henry Bernard, and sisters Beatrice Heffner and Alice Leeds.
Family was the cornerstone of Bob's life. Whether it was spending time with his grandchildren or sharing stories around the bon fire, he found joy in every moment spent with those he loved. His generosity knew no bounds — he would drop everything to help someone in need without hesitation or expectation.
Bob had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room. He delighted in making others laugh and brought warmth and levity wherever he went. His passions included classic cars — both hunting for them and restoring them — as well as boating and water sports. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were opportunities for him to bond with family and friends while sharing his vast knowledge and enthusiasm.
His faith was also an important part of his life. Bob found spiritual fulfillment through visits to sacred places such as Međugorje, Italy, Spain, and through worship at Annunciation Catholic Church. These experiences enriched his soul and deepened the compassion he extended so freely to others.
A man of remarkable character — generous, wise, humorous, and endlessly kind — Bob leaves behind a legacy that will live on through the lives he touched. His presence brought comfort and strength; his absence leaves a profound void.
A wake for Bob will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory.
A funeral service honoring Bob's life will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Annunciation Catholic Church, Florida.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and may his legacy continue to inspire love, laughter, and selflessness for generations to come.
