Robert "Bob" Garlie
May 2, 1933 – September 14, 2025

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Garlie, who peacefully departed this life on September 14, 2025, at the age of 92, at the Orlando, Florida VA Medical Center.

Born on May 2, 1933, Bob was a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a cherished family member. He is survived by his grandson, Ben (Heather) Garlie, and great-granddaughter, Bailey Garlie, as well as his nephews Todd (Carmen), Ron (Lavonne), Bryan, nieces Judi and Marilyn, and many beloved great-nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Agnes, his brothers Elliot and Gordon, and his son, Jay Garlie.

A proud veteran, Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War. This formative chapter of his life instilled in him a deep sense of duty, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to others. His values of service, integrity, and honor were evident in everything he did.

Following his military service, Bob attended North Dakota State University (NDSU), graduating in 1964. He went on to have a distinguished career as an engineer in the communications industry, where his intellect, dedication, and work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike.

In his later years, Bob extended his service to the world by joining the Peace Corps, where he worked in Russia. His passion for helping others continued to guide his actions, whether through his professional endeavors or his volunteer work. At home, he found joy in life's simple pleasures—tinkering with gadgets, savoring quiet moments with his family, and collecting. Bob enjoyed going to garage sales, where he often found hidden treasures, indulging his love for unique and interesting finds. His kindness, humor, and thoughtfulness made him a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob's legacy will endure in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. He was a man of integrity, a caring father and grandfather, and a true patriot who exemplified quiet strength, grace, and dedication.

A private memorial service will be held in his honor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Outdoor Adventure Foundation.

Bob's story may be over, but the chapters he wrote will never be forgotten.
