Robert B. Dolce, 82, passed away Friday November 8, 2013, in the company of his family and friends. Bob was born in Buffalo, NY on October 8, 1931 and grew up in Rochester, NY. He graduated from SUNY at Cortland, NY where he also played as quarterback of the football team. He later went on to earn a Masters in Administration from Rollins College. Following graduation from SUNY, he served his county as a USAF pilot. Upon moving to Florida, Bob met his beloved wife Frances, both of them enjoying 58 years of marriage. After his military service, he worked for Martin-Marietta several years before stepping into managing the family's Orlando Motor Lodge business with Frances.
Bob joined Edgewater High School's teaching and coaching staff in 1967 and served the school and community there till 1994 where he was head football coach many years. His love for sports and the outdoors was never ending. He was an active official for the FHSAA football and basketball programs. Bob always found time to play and coach golf as well, often with large groups of friends at Dubsdread or the Winter Park Golf Club. He also would never pass up an opportunity to fish with friends or his brother-in-law. Bob's storytelling led most to believe he caught some of the biggest fish in Florida waters.
He also had unlimited patience by virtue of the countless students who learned how to drive under his watchful Driver Training eyes. The most treasured virtue of Bob's was his unlimited love and dedication to his family, friends and the thousands of students and players he mentored over the years. Thanks Coach you will be missed!
