Robert "Bob" M. Delaney died peacefully on December 15, 2023 in Altamonte Springs, FL at the age of 80. Bob is survived by his daughter Erin Gerhart, son-in-law Michael Gerhart, granddaughter Caroline Gerhart, son Patrick Delaney, daughter-in-law Lindsey Delaney, and brother William P. Delaney of St. Louis, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathie Delaney, mother Helen Delaney, and father William Delaney.
Bob was born on April 23, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Helen and William Delaney. He attended Lower Merion High School, enlisted in the Air Force in 1961 and served through 1965. He married Kathie McDonald in 1971. He spent over thirty years in the electrical supply industry, which took he and his family to many locations up and down the eastern seaboard. He was a lifelong enthusiast of all auto racing, as well as being a driver in his 20s. A love that he continued to share with his son Patrick when he began racing as an adolescent. Bob found a second career in retirement when he went to work for David Maus Chevrolet in 2011 as part of their online sales team. He continued in that role until March of 2020 when he fully retired.
Bob was married to Kathie Delaney for more than 49 years. For their 25th Anniversary they spent a week sailing the British Virgin Islands on a chartered sail boat. They maintained that it was "their best vacation ever." A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bob enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family which included road trips, sporting events, concerts, dance recitals, movies, celebrations, or just having chat. Devout Catholics, Bob and Kathie together served as Pre-Cana representatives and Eucharistic Ministers to multiple parishes.
