Obituary

On February 28th, 2025 Robert Nahm Atkinson beloved husband, father and grandfather crossed over to his heavenly Father. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Ann Atkinson (nee Solomon), son Christopher Charles Atkinson (FL), daughters Laura Ann Atkinson (LeAnn Cusick) and Elizabeth Ann Atkinson (FL), and grandson Zachary Kai Atkinson-Zima (FL). Siblings Thomas J. Atkinson (FL), Anne Marie Rampolla (nee Atkinson), and Margaret Mary Palazzolo (nee Atkinson), both of Maryland. He was Proceeded in death by his parents John M. Atkinson and Marie Rose Atkinson (nee Nahm).

A resident of Florida, he was Maryland born and he loved playing church pipe organs, singing, as a young boy in a Boy's Choir conducted by Jesuit Priest Reverend John Delaney SJ, of Loyola College Baltimore. He graduated from Calvert Hall High School in 1958, always treasuring his education there, along with the Christian Brothers who were his teachers. His singing picked up again when at age 68 he found a new love in Karaoke. He disc recorded over 200 songs, and loved giving them to family members. He was very proud of his U.S. Air Force work as a Security Service Airman stationed in Japan.

His marriage was of extreme importance to his life, as was his Christian background and beliefs. His biggest pride was his three children and his grandson. He was known as a "people person", and would give solace and words of wisdom to uplift his co-workers when they encountered strife or loss in their lives. He was a lifelong collector of anything related to actress Jane Russell, amassing thousands of pictures, articles, lobby cards and recordings by the actress. When In High School his nickname was "Hollywood".

Robert was also known to his coworkers as "Cowboy", explained by his attire and love of the country music genre. In his later years he took up cooking and enjoyed it so much, taking recipes and making them his own. He excelled at it, from his enormous and beautiful homemade lasagna, to his New York style cheesecake, to his Jewish apple cake and yummy bread pudding, not to mention the incredible Thanksgiving and Christmas family dinners just to name a few. He always made people laugh when he would say "I'm going to sing at my own funeral!"
And so he did.
