Richard "Dick" Van Der Weide 81, went home to be with the Lord, on Monday, February 17, 2020. He was born on December 22, 1938 in Gardner, Massachusetts to Benjamin and Minnie Van Der Weide. He was blessed with two brothers (Benjamin, Jr. and Paul) and four sisters (Agnes, Gloria, Beatrice and Elaine).
Dick was a veteran of the US Air Force (1962-1966). He was an entrepreneur starting three businesses in Seminole County, Florida and served as a Seminole County Commissioner for 20 years. He lived in Seminole County for 41 years and was very involved in his community with the Christian Sharing Center, Christian Coalition, and a Deacon at First Baptist Sweetwater in Longwood, Florida.
He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends between their cabin in North Carolina and their home in Longwood, Florida. He moved to Spring Branch, Texas in 2015 to be near his youngest son Brad and his family.
Dick is survived by his wife Judy of 58 years, his three sons Richard (Stacey), Scot, and Brad (Jessica). His four grandchildren, Magen Hardin (Mike), Abbey Weaver (Hunter), Trey Van Der Weide and Mallory Van Der Weide and his two great grandsons Hunter and Richard Weaver. He is also survived by one sister Beatrice Zylstra (Dave). He is predeceased by his parents, three sisters and both brothers.

Services are will be held at First Baptist Sweetwater Church, 3800 Wekiva Springs Road, Longwood, FL 32779
Visitation - 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 pm
