Obituary

Richard Tutalo, 72, resident of Orlando, Florida, passed away on February 1, 2022.

Rich was born on August 20, 1949 in East Orange, NJ. He was predeceased by his parents Leonard and Grace (nee DeZenzo) Tutalo, and his brothers Leonard Jr. and James. He grew up in West Orange, NJ where he met his wife, Sandra (nee Giordano), of 53 years.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Korea from 1967 through 1969.

He was a true jack-of-all-trades working multiple jobs while balancing family and community commitments. He was a long-time member of the West Orange Elks where he coordinated numerous fundraisers for special needs children, enjoyed cooking for large events and was elected Exalted Ruler by his peers.

He had a gift for connecting with young adults often volunteering to coach youth sports teams. Rich self-termed himself "Mr. Nice Guy," but the grandchildren lovingly referred to him as "Grumpy Gramps". He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and he loved talking sports, especially about his "Amazin' Mets". He was always eager to lend a helping hand for his family and friends, he loved spending time with his grandkids and always made a point to spend one-on-one time with each one of them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (nee Giordano) Tutalo; his loving daughters and their spouses, Kim and Brian deZavala, and Tracey and Michael Lombardi; his six adoring grandchildren, Kevyn and his fiance' Christina Conrad, Emily and Riley deZavala, and Matthew, Ryan and Logan Lombardi; his in-laws Joann Tutalo, Gary and Jodi Giordano, and Frances Giordano; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, he would have greatly appreciated your support for the Elks Special Children's Committee. Make a donation in Richard Tutalo's name the Elks Camp Moore by sending your donation to: New Jersey State Elks, Special Children's Committee, Camp Moore, PO Box 1596, Woodbridge, NJ 07095
