Richard Donald Skorepa, 65, passed away peacefully on June 12th 2019 at his home in Sanford, Florida in the company of family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Richard was born July 26th, 1953 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to Lavergne (Burke) Skorepa and Charles Skorepa. Raised in St. Louis MO., Richard received his bachelor degree from The University of Missouri in 1977 with a degree in Agriculture and his Masters in Plant Pathology in 1983. Richard worked for more than 40 years as an agricultural specialist. Throughout his life, Richard used his skills to teach and protect, whether it was in the Peace Corps, in the class room as a Biology teacher or as an agricultural specialist with Homeland Security, Richard took pride in his work.
Richard is survived by his wife Mary (Ryan) Skorepa, his two sons Jose Skorepa and Brendan Skorepa, and his three siblings Steven Skorepa, Lawrence Skorepa and Patricia (Skorepa) White. Richard and Mary recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on June 3, 2019. Throughout their years together, they took great joy in travelling with their sons. Richard was an accomplished wood-worker, loved reading and being in the outdoors, and had a great love of animals. He will be missed by his dog, Bailee, who enjoyed long walks at the park and in the woods and was always by his side.
