Obituary

Richard Starbuck Lovering, Jr., age 53, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2015 at his home in Longwood, Florida.

Rick was originally from Chelmsford, MA, where he spent a happy childhood. He graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1980. He moved to Florida in 1985, and had been a resident of Longwood since 1991. He earned an Associates Degree from Seminole Community College.

He was active in his community. Rick spent many years as a coach for Longwood Babe Ruth Baseball, he was a past president of Winsor Manor Civic Association and he participated in Longwood's CERT emergency response program. At the time of his passing, he served on the board of Discovery Beach Resort in Cocoa Beach, where he and his family spent much of their leisure time. Rick was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, where he participated in the Men's Club and Habitat for Humanity.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He gave his all wherever it was needed. He worked hard but always made time to help anyone who asked. He had a most generous heart, a quiet dignity and a wicked sense of humor. He took great pleasure in rooting for his beloved Red Sox, in taking part in the annual family golf weekend, in going to Longwood Beer Club meetings, and in otherwise spending time with his family and friends.

He was pre-deceased by his father, Richard Starbuck Lovering, Sr., on November 6, 2009.

Rick is survived by his wife, Patricia Lockwood Lovering, of Longwood, FL; his sons Robert Macchione of Lutz, FL, Peter Macchione of Winston-Salem, NC, Patrick Macchione of Orlando, FL, and Richard Lovering and Theodore Lovering, both of Longwood, FL; his mother Ellen Lovering of The Villages, FL; his brother Kenneth Lovering and his husband Paul Papierski of Putney, VT; his sister Christine Lovering and her partner, Peter Regis, of Windsor, SC; sister-in-law Mary Claire Zarcone and her husband, Allan, of Parsippany, NJ, and their children Marianne, Matthew, Christina, and Amy; brother-in-law Laurence Lockwood and his wife, Lizbeth, of Stillwater, NJ, and their children James and his wife Kelly, Mary, William, and Anne.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, July 3, from 6-9 pm, and the funeral Mass on Saturday, July 4 at 10 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Altamonte Springs.
