Obituary

Born on September 4, 1933 in Hop Bottom, Pennsylvania, Richard Cleon Powers was the second child of Cleon Hazard Powers and Marian Dorothy Powers. Richard has an older sister Nancy (Taylor) and a younger brother Robert. Richard enjoyed living in the country, and living on the farm. He went to school in a one room school house on Acre Lake and had many great stories to share about it. Later he went to Harford High School. He was involved with the Future Farmers of America. Whenever he got the chance he would drive up to Niagara, New York to visit his Uncle and family and acquired the nickname Speed King for how fast he could get their and back.
Lenora Stalter Powers was born on February 26, 1943, in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. She was the only daughter to William Samuel Stalter Sr. and Eleanor Stalter. She was sister to Bill, Gordan, Donald, James, and Charlie. She graduated from Butler High School in 1961 and went to Burroughs Bookkeeping School.

Lenora and Richard met when, Gordon moved to Kingsley to become a farmer. Her father would bring her to the farm on the weekends to help out. Richard and Gordon became fast friends and helped each other out on the family farms. Over the years Lenora and Richard went on many chaperoned double dates with her brothers and their future wives going to movies and county fairs.
In 1963 they were married and were living in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey, Richard worked for Bill Stalter and later went to work for Mount View Electrics delivering Appliances. Lenora worked for different firms as a bookkeeper and worked for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals up to her maternity leave in 1972. By then they had purchased their first home and was awaiting the arrival of the stork. On April 10, 1972 they gave birth to Tara Lynn.

In 1979 shortly after the death of Lenora's mother they moved to DeBary, Florida. Richard became a delivery man for Atchley Appliance and TV's and later their warehouse manager. Lenora went to work as a bookkeeper with DeLand State Bank and stayed on when the bank was purchased by Sun Bank. Over the years they had many great friends come into their lives. After Tara graduated High School Lenora went to work for Radiology Management and later Medical Escrow Society. After his retirement Richard joined Tara at Carillon Elementary and then retired to help after Lenora's brain surgery.

In June 2013 Lenora and Richard celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at Disney World with Tara and Kevin. In the summer of 2014 they celebrated Tara and Kevin's wedding.

Richard and Lenora were a very loving couple who had amazing families.

Richard is survived by his sister Nancy and her husband Wayne Taylor and their children Marian, Jim, Bill and Kathy, their spouses and their 6 grandchildren. His brother Bob and his wife Elizabeth Powers and their children, Tommy, Bobby and Betty, their spouses and 9 grandchildren.
Lenora is survived by her Aunt Bertha Hearse. Her brother Charlie and his wife Barbara Stalter and their children, Lori, Christopher and Kyle. Her sister in law Helen Stalter and her children, Elaine, Sue, Patty, Bill their spouses and her 5 grandchildren. Nephews, David, Michael, Richard, Stephen Stalter, niece Julie Harvatine, their spouses and 6 children. Her sister in law Stella Stalter, her children Donald, Kevin, Michelle, Melissa, their spouses and her 2 grandchildren. Her cousins, Elsie Bearnar, Doris Weaver, Diane Hess , Donna Lipari, their spouses, children and grandchildren.
