Dr. Richard Lengyel, 72, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully on the evening of Saturday December 9, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Evelyn (Grimes) Lengyel of Pittsburgh Pa.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years Debra Lengyel formerly Phelan of Uniontown Pa and stepson Daniel John Lukotch III of Morgantown WV. He is also survived by brother James Lengyel Sr of
Pittsburgh Pa, brother Scott Lengyel and wife Bernadette Lengyel of Pittsburgh Pa, and sister
Charlene Lengyel Goebel and husband Dr. Roger Goebel of Greensburg Pa, as well as nieces and
nephews.
Rick leaves behind an adventurous life and career of achievement. Born in Pittsburgh Pa in 1951
Rick bravely served in Vietnam as a Green Beret where he was introduced to Tae Kwon Do in
1971 and received his Black Belt in 1975. He was a graduate of Emperor's College of
Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California and was a National Board Certified
and State Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. He was also the founder and director of Taoist
Health and Martial Fitness in Pittsburgh Pa, where he taught Jun Jeet Kune Do and Kickboxing.
Aside from the above he was also a faculty member at Allegheny County Community College
where he taught Chinese Medicine and Herbology. His film credits include Fists of Iron and
Sudden Death. Rick eventually ended up in Uniontown Pa working at Uniontown Pain
Management as an acupuncturist where he was often quoted as saying "Pain, pain, go away," to
his patients, showing his commitment and concern for his patient's well-being. Rick was a kind,
intelligent, and compassionate man who will be missed by all who loved him.
Arrangements are private and under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, Dolfi Chapel, 65 North Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD. Interment is private. A private memorial for the immediate family only will follow after the holidays.
