Richard Henry Kroll, known to his friends as "DK", died on July 14, 2025 in Sanford, Florida at the age of 87. His high school yearbook called him a "Friend to All". He truly was.
Richard was born on June 22, 1938 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Adolph and Olga Kroll, both of whom were German immigrants to the USA in the years following WWI. Richard spent his career as an engineer focused on the semiconductor industry, beginning in this field in the 1970's when computing was a nascent industry, and worked for several years in Silicon Valley. During his early career he was a part of other notable projects such as space satellite assembly and the Apollo 11 lunar lander.
Richard enjoyed fishing and spent many days far off the Florida coast searching for the best catch.
Richard is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma, his three children, Andrew, Jeffrey (JR) and Christine, and his seven grandchildren (Taylor, Oliver, Zachary, Drew, Amelia, Carson, and James). Richard is preceded in death by his parents and older brother Alfred Kroll.
A celebration of life event will be held on July 26, 2025 from 2-5 pm at the Gateway Clubhouse at 225 West Seminole Blvd, Sanford, FL 32771.
