Obituary

Richard "Dick" Hill age 84 passed away on January 10, 2022.

He was born to the late Walter and Lillian Hill on August 10, 1937 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Dick graduated from Parkersburg High School and later attended West Virginia University. In 1956, he enlisted in the United States Army as an Intelligence Analyst. Following his tour of duty, Dick married and had two children. He started a long and illustrious career in sales before ultimately achieving Senior Executive level.

In 1978, he married the "Love of his Life", his Patty Jo and together, they moved to Delaware, Ohio, where they put down roots and raised six children: Cathy, Matt, David, Shayne, Scott and Sloan. The family has since grown into 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Though separated by miles, "Pa" was still the patriarch of his crew!

And at the center of all of this was the multitude of people that came into his life and became life-long friends and extended family. It has always been said that "Dick never met a stranger". There has never been a truer statement!

In his later years, Dick was equally blessed with the friendship of Judy Kruse. Together they shared a loving relationship until the end.

Dick was a faithful member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church where he worshipped with his fellow parishioners, whom he loved dearly.

Preceded in death by his parents and his sons Matthew W. Hill, David V. Stewart, II, and Slade Scott Stewart, Dick is survived by his daughters Sloan Stewart Emerson, Catherine Farahay and Shayne O'Shay Rose; grandchildren Benjamin M. Farahay, Jacquelyn A. Linville, Shannon Hill, Taylor Hill, Nicole Stewart, Alicia Menichello, David Stewart, Kayla Heflin, Cameron Stewart, Ryan L. Von Herbulis, Richard Von Herbulis and Rachel Meerman; and great grandchildren Cash Farahay and London Farahay, Gaige Linville, Kylie Linville Giovanni Menichello, McKenna Heflin, Macy Mae Stewart, Ryleigh Meerman and Luke Meerman.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Dick's memory to Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Sanford, or Shriners International.
