Dreyer, Richard (Dick) H. (92)
Richard Dreyer passed away on October 27. He was born on July 25, 1925, in Tenafly, New Jersey, to Herman A. Dreyer and Stella Doss Dreyer. The family moved to St. Petersburg in 1931, where he remained a life-long resident.
Richard graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he entered WW II, serving in the Pacific theater with the U.S. Army Air Corp. At the end of the war, he attended the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in Building Construction and enjoyed a long and successful career in the construction industry.
Richard had a love of music and played in both the Clearwater Community Band and the Pasadena Community Band for many years. He put his wood-working skills to use in retirement, donating his time to the Christmas Toy Shop rebuilding toys for children in need.
Richard was predeceased in death by his wife of 43 years, Carol. He is survived by their 3 children, Michael (Judi), of St. Petersburg, David (Sallie) of Winter Springs and Laura Barnhart (Rick) of Ellington, Connecticut; as well as eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild (with 2 on the way). He is also survived by his brother William (Buddy) Dreyer of Palmetto and sister, Norma Gauding of Tallahassee. He is predeceased by his sister Gloria Dreyer.
A service will be held at R Lee Williams & Son Funeral Home, on November 3, at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception. The family thanks the staff of Westminster Palms for their loving care and suggests donations to the Westminster Palms Foundation in lieu of flowers.
