Richard Chapman (Dick) Britton, 77 of St. Petersburg passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 after a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965, serving as a Specialist E5 medic in Fort Eustis, Virginia. He then worked in St. Petersburg as a laboratory technician until his retirement in 2008 from Northside Hospital. He enjoyed hunting with his pals and teaching his grandsons their hunting skills. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed gunsmithing until shortly before his death. His favorite spot was his cabin in North Carolina. He refered to the woods as his cathedral.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Col. and Mrs. Russell Britton, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; three daughters, Kim Sigley (widow of Don) of St. Petersburg, Kelly Diehl (Dan) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Tracy Leskanic (Larry) of St. Petersburg; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
His love and patience will live on in these children. He is greatly missed by his family.
There will be a memorial service at R Lee Williams Funeral Home on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10 am with interment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 2pm. with Military Honors.
