Rex Anthony Smith died peacefully in Orlando, Florida on July 12, 2024, at the age of 65.

Rex is survived by his sons Michael Smith (Stephanie), Merritt Island, Marcus Helms (Alana), Zephyrhills, Brady Gilbert and Shane Johnson, both of San Antonio, Fl., sister Lynda Hayes (Scott), Ocoee, Stepfather Johnny Hodge, Ocoee, several grandchildren & great-grandchildren and many other family members that love him.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life Lora Helms, San Antonio, Fl, Mother Peggy Hodge, Ocoee, Father RJ Smith, Stepmother Elizabeth Smith, both of Winter Garden.

Rex was born on August 29, 1958, in Winter Garden, Fl. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1975. After high school Rex drove a truck making deliveries in the Orlando area. After a few years he moved to Dade City/San Antonio where he began working as a Roofer. He made this his home for the next 38 years. Rex enjoyed playing softball in his younger years and after retiring he attended local concerts, Tampa Bay Rays games, playing a round or two of golf, fishing and Bingo. He was always there to cheer on the Tampa Bay Bucs, The Tampa Rays and The Atlanta Braves. His presence will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who know him.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 3pm Friday July 26, 2024, at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory – West Orange Chapel located at 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd. Ocoee, Florida 34761.
