Obituary

In the early morning hours of September 29, 2024, Rebecca Jane Weerkamp 78, surrounded by her loved ones, went to be with her Lord and Savior.

Rebecca was born on June 10, 1946, in Washington County. The daughter of the late Ralph Keeney and Maurine Jenkins, Keeney, Braun.

Rebecca had a beautiful heart with so much love for her family and for those she knew. Her great affection and warmth shows in her children and grandchildren as their family bond is very strong.

Rebecca married the love of her life, Paul Weerkamp on September 19, 1981, and started a
new chapter in her life with her 3 children. Rebecca was an amazing woman with many talents. She loved books and reading and has over three thousand books in her collection that she has built over her many years. When she was 8 years old, she walked to the store and bought herself a bible with money her mother gave her. She loved to write poetry and stories. One of her many talents was Art framing that her and her husband Paul did as a business when they owned an antique shop in Scenery Hill for many years called Little Journeys. She had a great love for God and nature and loved spending time outside on her farmhouse porch in nice weather. Rebecca and her husband Paul raised Angus beef cattle on their farm for many years, a hobby they both enjoyed. Rebecca went to Washington High School where she remains friends with many people from her class and neighborhood. And always told great stories from her life. Rebecca spent more than 2 1/2 years in hospice care with the last 6 months being bedridden. She was so upset she couldn't spend her last summer sitting on her porch listening to the birds
enjoying the sunshine and fresh country air. She had amazing care with hospice and loved all the women who came and helped her every week. Her husband Paul was her main caretaker, he was by her side 24/7 with some help from their kids as well. It was bittersweet for her family when she left. Although she will be missed dearly, she is no longer in pain and is at peace in heaven with our Lord and all her family she has missed for many years.

Surviving is her husband, Paul Weerkamp, her 3 children, Son Christopher Burke at home, daughter Katy Burke Frank of Scenery Hill, son Matthew Burke and wife Kerri of Finleyville, 8 grandchildren, Samantha Friedline and husband Nicholas of Washington PA, Emily Frank and fiance Daniel Saunders of Washington PA, Ethan Frank of Scenery Hill, PA, Abigail Frank Fowler and husband Jonathan Michael Fowler of Scenery Hill, PA, Jude and Daniel Burke of Canonsburg PA, Tessa Allen Ward and husband Landon, and children of Plainview, Texas Judy Allen, and children of Texas, Great Grand Children, Amelia Rose Saunders and Zayden Paul Fowler. Her Great grandchildren, being so little, brought her great joy and lots of smiles on a regular basis. And many cousins, Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Judith Keeney Reese and Brother, William Keeney.

She will be extremely and sadly missed but never forgotten.

Arrangements are private and under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory, Stacey A. Dolfi, FD, 65 N. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown, PA. Interment is private.
