Ralph J. Groom Jr., 55 of Winter Park, formerly of Wilmington, Ma. and Charlestown, Ma., entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at the Winter Park Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Ralph was born in Boston, Massachusetts the son of the late Ralph J. Groom Sr. and Philomena "Headle" Groom. He grew up in Charlestown where he graduated from St. Catherine's School. He graduated from Middlesex Community College earning an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts. He was a former police officer for the Boston Municipal Police Department. Mr. Groom coached the Wilmington Middle School Girls field Hockey for seven years prior to moving to Florida.

Ralph is the beloved husband of Mary Jo Pigott Groom and devoted father to his three children Nicole "Groom" Rodriguez, Jillian Groom and Joshua Groom. Ralph is the loving father in law to Eduardo Rodriguez Jr. of Winter Park. He is the beloved brother to Michael Groom and his wife Christine of Peabody, Ma., David Groom and his wife Noreen of Burlington, Ma. and Paul Groom and his wife Bobbi. He is the beloved brother in law to Kathy Pigott Brodeur and her husband Andy of Melrose, Ma. and Jack and Elizabeth Mahoney of Worcester, Ma. Mr. Groom is the loving Uncle of Patrick, Brenden, Connor, Meaghan, Brian, Mark, Kaycie Shane, Zachery, and Tyler Groom, Lia and Bobby Brodeur and Great Uncle to Taylor Groom.

Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 4-8 P.M. at DeGusipe Funeral Home 9001 N. Orlando Ave, Maitland, Fl 32751. A funeral mass for Ralph will be Monday, September 12, 2016 at 10:30 am at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ralph's memory to Toys for Tots.
