Pramod Mehta, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 2:50 am at the age of 80. Pramod was born in Ahmedabad, India on September 8, 1937. His was a life full of many accomplishments, both professional and personal. He first came to the United States in 1959 at which time he received a Master of Science Degree in Physics from Howard University. Pramod was united in marriage to Ranna Mehta on February 20, 1965 for 52 years, with whom he had two loving sons, Pranav and Udgit. They gave him and Ranna 3 granddaughters, Maanya, Hanika and Josephine.
Pramod was a professor of physics and mathematics at Morris College and the University of South Carolina for 13 years. He later became an electrical engineer and worked for the Department of Defense until he retired in 2004.
Throughout his life Pramod was known for his love of wisdom, music, humor, literature, philosophy and the pursuit of spiritual growth. He was ever curious about many things and retained a childlike sense of wonder and delight while also possessing a keen sense of discernment. Pramod was profoundly sensitive to the suffering of others be it an animal or another person and strived to be moral in all aspects of his life. A storyteller at heart, he equally loved hearing and reading them. For all his accomplishments he possessed humility and kept an open heart always.
Pramod will forever be loved by those whose lives he enriched with his presence and interaction. He would wish joy and peace for all to be his legacy.
