Obituary

Phyllis Blanche Stawski, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the age of 92, an age which she had often proudly declared was record breaking for her family.

Phyllis was born in Port Jervis, New York on October 19, 1928 to parents Durward Decker and Mildred DeGroat Decker. Phyllis was a seamstress for most of her life and spent 13 years working for the United States Navy where she was afforded the unique opportunity to fit her youngest son, John, with his uniforms. Phyllis retired in 1993 to help raise numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Phyllis loved her family fiercely and her greatest joy in life was taking care of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others who she considered to be family.

Phyllis was an avid NBA basketball fan and would stay up all night watching the playoffs regardless of which teams were playing. She loved listening to music, particularly enjoying Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. Phyllis enjoyed watching westerns on television, going shopping, getting her hair done, doing puzzle books and word searches, and above all spending time with her family. Phone calls from family members made Phyllis' day and facetime video calls with grandchildren and great grandchildren were at the top of her list.

Phyllis will be missed dearly by her brother: Eugene Decker; her two sons: Allen Stawski Jr. (wife Precy Stawski) and John Stawski (wife Rebecca Stawski); her seven grandchildren: Amy Sicuro, Tara Perrego, Patti Perrego Mendoza, Nichole Stawski Caruso, Rachel Stawski Dlugokienski, Hallie Stawski Yang, and Hannah Stawski; her eight great grandchildren: Jenna Gelormino, Joseph Postorino, Rickey Mendoza, Emily Postorino, Noah Yang, Aria Caruso, Lydia Yang, and Aubrey Caruso; her several nieces and nephews; and her cousins in addition to her numerous honorary grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Allen Stawski Sr., her daughter Durlene Stawski Foley, and her siblings Durward Decker, Helena Kee, and Clayton Decker.
