Pearlie Mae (Hester) Simpson, 92, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Ms. Simpson was predeceased by her husband Jason L. Simpson, Sr. "Buck", her parents James M. Hester and Maggie L. Hester.
She is survived by her four (4) children; Patricia Chisolm (Rick), Linda Cornell, Vicky Mazzotta (Tony), and Jason Simpson, Jr. "Buck". Eight (8) grandchildren, ten (10) great grandchildren and one (1) great-great grandchild and a sister Grace Clements of Tallahassee.
She was born and raised in Thomas county Georgia, moving to Tallahassee in 1945 where she met and married a soldier returning from the Panama Canal. Her children were born in Tallahassee before moving to Ocoee in 1962. While living in Ocoee she worked in retail and the job that she most loved was working for Boogaarts Grocery Store where she met many friends from the surrounding area.
While in Ocoee she was active in Oak Level Baptist Church.
She lost her husband of 37 years in 1983 and afterwards returned to Tallahassee in 1988 to be near her sisters. She remained in Tallahassee until 2010 when she moved back to Ocoee.
While in Tallahassee she was active within her church, New Life Baptist, and used her amazing cooking skills to bake cakes for friends and special occasions. Throughout the years she was known for handling a crowd in her kitchen and adding a friend or two to any celebration. There was always room for one more in her home. Her grandchildren never tired from a visit to her home where grandchildren thrived on her doting attention.
For the past six years she has resided at Health Central Park Nursing Home where she was cared for by a wonderful staff from Nursing to Administration and everyone in between. The family would like to thank all her caregivers from Health Central Park. You are an amazing group of people, thank you.
Mother will be missed but her memories will outlive us all.
Thank you for your love and support.
