Obituary

Paul "Ken" Sullivan age 94, was called home to the Lord on September 25, 2021. He was born on March 14, 1927, son to Warren T. and Harriet (Margileth) Sullivan and siblings Warren A "Bud" and Barbara.

Born in Middletown, Ohio, Ken moved to St. Pete, Florida in 1935. Shortly thereafter, his family relocated to Winter Park where his father opened a furniture store in Orlando. He attended Hillcrest Elementary, Orlando High and later Winter Park High School where he met the love of his life, Marion Owles in 1939. Ken was voted 'wittiest' and they were voted "best Desert Island Companions". After two years in the US Navy, he attended the University of Florida but left his studies to support his father in the family business, Warren's Furniture on Fairbanks Ave., in Winter Park.

Ken and Marion raised their family of eight children in Winter Park. He was president of Warren's Furniture until its voluntary closing in 1985. For over four decades, Ken employed and impacted many people --young and old. Poignant stories of his kindness are often shared by many former employees today. He enjoyed taking drives around Winter Park to reminisce about the old days --Genius Drive, Dinky Dock, Dubsdread Golf Club, Winter Park Golf Club, Park Avenue, just to name a few. He was active in many organizations including the WP Lions Club, Great Generations, Florida Furniture Dealers Association, Rotary Club, EAGO and Jaycees.

He will always be remembered by his quick wit, kind heart and sage advice. He was a quiet, humble family man, his family's biggest cheerleader...

After the tragic loss of his youngest son in 1976, Ken and Marion built a cherished Franklin, North Carolina mountain cabin which provided respite for family and friends. In 2010, Ken lost the love of his life after her lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Ken's devotion and unwavering strength was evident as he cared for Marion at home. He also had many health challenges, but never complained or let it get him down.

Ken is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion and son, Peter. He is survived by his children, Patty Perry (Bob), Paul Sullivan (Julie), Michael Sullivan (Leanne), Kathy Dumbauld (Mark), Karen Kalich (Mike), Tim Sullivan (Michele), Ann Sheldon (Perry), and 17 wonderful grandchildren, as well as 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to your choice of charity. Ken's favorites were the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.

The family of Paul "Ken" Sullivan invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute Wall created in his loving memory.
