Obituary

Paul “Gene” Ramos, 90, of Sanford, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

Born in New York City on September 16, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Olga Ramirez and Paul Ramos. Gene proudly served his country for 12 years as an Airman First Class and military police in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to public transit, working as a bus driver in Connecticut and later continuing his route in Florida until his retirement.

In his youth, Gene loved roller skating. He spent many enjoyable days socializing at his local Denny’s. He was also blessed with wonderful friends who cared for him like family.

He is survived by his sister, Olga “Blondie” Finnegan; his brother, Ray Ramirez; and his nieces and nephews, Patti Baldwin, Bob Molnar, Linda Leaden Weston, Sean Finnegan, Debbie Ramirez, Denise Ramirez, and Mark Ramirez. He also leaves behind several loving great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins and his “granddaughter”, Lily Davis. He leaves behind a deeply devoted chosen family, The Duncan’s, especially Melissa Duncan Rosendahl who cared for him for many years. He also leaves behind a dear friend and caregiver, Sheila Redden.

His remains will be returned to Connecticut, where a memorial service will be planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The American Lung Association in Gene’s honor.
