Obituary

In Loving Memory of Patricia "Patty" Wasilenko
Mrs. Patricia "Patty" Wasilenko, neé Snell, passed away peacefully in Altamonte Springs, Florida, at the age of 72. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Patricia is survived by her devoted husband, Ronald Wasilenko, and her three children and their families: Robert and Jennifer Drow, Michael and Melissa Wasilenko, and Brian Wasilenko. She was a beloved grandmother to Charles, Emily, James, Mason, and Madeline. Patricia is also survived by her brother, William Snell.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Snell neé Chellel, her father, William Snell, her brother, John Snell, and her sister, Kathleen McGee.
Born on March 21, 1952, in Brighton, Massachusetts, to William Snell and Alice Snell neé Chellel, Patricia graduated from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing. She dedicated many years serving as a respiratory intensive care nurse with compassion.
In 1974, Patricia married Ronald Wasilenko, embarking on a journey that took them around the world as he served in the U.S. Navy. From Rhode Island to California, Virginia to Yokosuka, Japan, and finally settling in Florida, their bond remained unbreakable. On June 8, 2024, they would have celebrated 50 years of the Sacrament of Marriage. Their wedding song, "People" performed by Barbra Streisand, was chosen by Patricia primarily because of the following lyrics:
With one person,
One very special person,
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now you're whole…
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest the people in the world.
Patricia found joy in simple pleasures including reading romance novels, listening to the music of Barbra Streisand, and the melodies of the Beatles. She had a deep appreciation for fine Italian cuisine and cherished the beaches of New England. She loved and adored her family and found happiness in spending holidays together, especially Christmas, where she radiated warmth and laughter. Patricia's vibrant spirit lit up any gathering, and her love for dance made her the life of the party.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of God Chapel at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, 95 Bishop Grady Ln, Winter Park, FL 32792. Bishop John Noonan, Ordinary of the Diocese of Orlando, will celebrate Mass. All who knew and loved Patricia are invited to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
Flowers and condolences may be sent to San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, 95 Bishop Grady Ln, Winter Park, FL 32792.
Patricia's kindness, laughter, and zest for life will remain in our hearts forever. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, dear Patricia.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
