Obituary

Patricia Joern Schloot, 82, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, February 6. Pat was born on October 20, 1931 to Charles and Eleanor (Lambert) Joern in Oak Park, IL. Pat graduated from Lyons Township High School in LaGrange IL, in 1950 and attended Rollins College. Pat was married to Jan Freeman Schloot, had six children, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. After moving to Indiana after college, Pat moved back to Central Florida in 1959. She was an active member in the community and served as a member of St. Mary Magdalen and St. Margaret Mary Catholic Churches where she was a Eucharistic minister. She was also an active member and past president (1988-90) of the Morning Star Auxiliary and served as a past chair of the Morning Star fashion show and gala luncheon. Pat was a long-serving member and held offices in the Central Florida Council for Florida House, the Annie Russell Theatre Guild, and the Mental Health Association. She also served as a member of the Pope John XXIII, and St. Robert circles, United Way, the Central Florida Board of Realtors, the Pi Beta Phi alumnae association and numerous other organizations. She was a long-time member of the Winter Park Racquet Club and the University Club. She was an avid bridge player, world traveler, and was a member of the Holy Rollers bowlers.

Beloved Pat was a gift of joy in the lives of others. She was passionate about her family and friends, helping others, and gave unconditional love to all.

Pat is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: daughters: Terri Rupp (Tim); Beth Hook (Ed, Jr.); Kevin (Michelle); Michael; Abby Brown (Kenne). Grandchildren: Trish Moser; Krista Smith (Shawn); Eddie Hook, III; Heather Hahn (Kris); Suzanne Schloot; Trin Schloot; Christina Schloot; Kyle Brown; Ellie Brown. Great-grandchildren: Austin, Lauren and Eddie IV. She also survived by sisters Virginia Allinson; Judy Parsons; and brother Charles Joern, Jr. (Christine). She is preceded in death by her parents, son Craig, and former spouse Jan.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations please be made to Morning Star School: 930 Leigh Avenue, Orlando, FL 32804.

Services will be held on February 14 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church Winter Park. Fr. Richard Walsh, officiating.
