Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Fritz of Orlando passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 1,
2025 at age 89. Pat was born on February 27, 1935, in New York City. Throughout her life she
loved music, theatre, literature, poetry and dance of all genres. She graduated from Carlow
University in Pittsburgh, PA – majoring in English and Literature. Her career path ranged from
nursing at the New York Foundling Hospital to being the Chief Administrator for The University
of Pittsburgh Department of Neurosurgery.

She married the love of her life Charles Fritz in 1975, and they shared 50 years of happy
marriage. Their life together began in Pittsburgh, PA then Bowie, MD, and finally spending 25
years of joyful retirement in Orlando, FL.

Pat was passionate about world affairs. Areas of particular concern for her were racial equality,
world hunger, universal healthcare, and homelessness. To share her love of reading, Pat
volunteered with literacy programs. She also volunteered with hospice providers to give comfort
to the sick.

Pat is survived by her devoted husband and best friend Charles Fritz; loving children Jeanne
(Rich) Parenti, Mark (Boulong) Farrell, MaryBeth (Bob) Thompson, Carolyn Doyle, Mary Beth
Ayers, Charles "Chip" (Roni) Fritz, John "Jack" (Lisa) Fritz; grandchildren Pinyo (Zayda) Satiep,
Jamie (Bob) Baumgart, Sarah (Ryan) Joseph, Jacqueline (Allen) Messenger, Thomas (Keri)
Doyle, Sumintra (Micheal) Satiep, Sean Parenti, Jennifer (Daniel) Casella, Melissa Hankinson,
Megan Homway, and Timothy Fritz; as well as 15 great-grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by her infant son David, parents Thomas and Elenore McDermott,
and sister Jacqueline McDermott Mulligan.

Friends and family can say their final goodbyes to Pat at a Mass of Christian burial on
Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 10:00 am at Saint James Cathedral, Orlando.
Private family only interment to follow.
