Neidhart, Opal May July 23, 1922 - May 11, 2015

Opal May Neidhart (nee Ward) passed away peacefully on May 11th with her son Jim at her bedside. Adored by family and friends, Opal will be truly missed. Born in St. Louis, Missouri to parents James Michael and Isabella Ward (nee Soto) on July 23, 1922; Opal was their only child. On November 23,1950, Opal married her great love, Edward (Eddie) Anthony Neidhart, of St. Louis, MO. She wedded him at a Catholic Church Ceremony in Ferguson, Mo. Opal served our country as a civilian secretary during World War II at the Panama Canal. She was in active in St. Louis County politics (City of Berkeley) following in her father's political footsteps. Later, Opal was an Executive Secretary for Biederman's advertising executive. In 1972, Eddie's job transferred to Cape Kennedy and her family moved to Titusville, Florida. Because of an illness in 2005, Opal's son, Jim, moved her into an assistant living facility in Lake Mary to be near him. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, sewing, knitting and reading our holy Bible. Opal is survived by her sons, James Michael (aka Jim or Mike), Carl William (aka Billy) and daughter-in-law, Lee. She was preceded in death by Harley Edward (son), and her husband. With her World War II Veteran husband, Opal will be interned at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida on May 19th at 1:15 pm.
