Norris Lee Gordon was born February 11, 1927 to George and Edith Gordon in Bonnegate,
St. Mary, Jamaica, W.I. He was the youngest son born to Mr. & Mrs. Gordon and the 6th child, out of seven children.

In the 1950s, Norris moved to Kingston where he worked as a bookkeeper for many years. He would often send money back home to his parents and siblings.

In January 1962, Norris immigrated to England in search of a better life. In England he worked as a conductor for London Transport.

On March 25, 1972 he married the love of his life, Kathleen Oliver. He often spoke about how fortunate he was that God had blessed him with his wife. Their union produced a blended family of six children.

On July 29, 1976 the family immigrated to the United States arriving in Brooklyn, New York. In New York, Norris changed career paths and worked in healthcare as a patient transporter for many years.

Those who knew Norris knew that he loved God, church and his family. He was a member of God's Battalion of Prayer for many years before moving to Orlando, Florida in1990.
In Orlando he became a member of the Central New Testament Church of God. He was with the church from its earliest days on Turkey Lake Road to when they moved to their current location on Powers Drive.

Under the spiritual teachings of his good friend and pastor, Reverend Dr. Guy Notice, Norris' relationship with God excelled to new heights. He was filled with the Holy Ghost, was appointed a deacon of the church, and watched his church family grow. Becoming a deacon of his beloved church was one of his greatest accomplishments. Many also affectionately called him "Deeks" or "Deacon" after he was appointed , which was a term of endearment he loved to hear. Deacon Norris also took great pride in being the church's treasurer. This duty was both an honor and a job that he took very seriously.

Norris had many hobbies that he enjoyed. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing cricket. He loved watching sports (baseball, basketball, tennis, soccer, cricket) on the television and attending live games. Watching baseball and cheering his beloved Yankees were perhaps one of his favorite things to do. Another one of his favorite pastimes was playing dominoes. The game nights at his residence were legendary. It was not uncommon for him to play dominoes with his church brethren into the wee hours of the morning. He was a master of the game and was extremely competitive. If you were his partner in dominoes, you were in for a treat!

Next to God, family was of utmost importance to Norris. He was the patriarch of his family- both immediate and extended. His love was big enough to share amongst all members of his family.
He unselfishly offered prayers, advice, words of wisdom and encouragement to his children, his beloved nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
This love did not stop with his family. It was extended to his church brethren and close friends to whom he viewed as family too.
On Thursday, September 17, 2015 3:56am, with his loving wife and daughter at his side, Deacon Norris Lee Gordon went home to be with the Lord. He was 88 years old.
Left to cherish his loving, indelible spirit are: his devoted wife of 43 years, Kathleen Gordon; his children Norman (Bernadine), Karlene, Florizel (Charmaine), Walter, Dave, Petrina (Kenneth); 21 grandchildren (Venice, Atiya, Chad, Ayanna, Ashanta, Candace, Asher, Leah, Rossan, Nyasha, Mark, Nafiysa, Florizel Jr, Charielle, Norris, Samuel "Kwaku," Courtney, Tyrell, Petrina-Kenya, Makeda Rose, Marcus); eight great grandchildren; countless nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great grand nieces, and great grand nephews; countless adopted children and grandchildren; and many friends.
Norris Lee Gordon was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
