Nicholas Charles Blackwell, Sr. of Clermont, Florida, age 91, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Nick was born January 23, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He moved to Orlando, Florida in 1959, and was employed by Martin Company as a Quality Engineer for 14 years prior to going to work for Walt Disney World in 1971. Nick was a Florida Certified General Contractor for Walt Disney World and retired in 1992 as Chief of the Architectural Field Representatives. He was a Catholic. Nick graduated from the Maryland Institute of Drafting and Architecture. He served 4 years in the Navy, earning several medals for his service in the Korean War. He was a member of the Eustis Gun Club, American Legion, and participated in Scouting and Little League Baseball with his sons.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Blackwell, sons Nicholas C. Blackwell, Jr. and his wife Michele and David M. (Mike) Blackwell, Sr. and his wife Marie; as well as five grandchildren Lindsey Wright (Christopher), Nicholas C. Blackwell III, David M. Blackwell, Jr., Casey Marie Blackwell, and Michael J. Kress, Jr. (deceased); and three great grandchildren Olivia H. Wright, Kennedy P. Wright, and Krystal R. Kress.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Nicholas C. Blackwell, Sr. to Wounded Warriors or Cornerstone Hospice.
Visitation will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 1400 Matthew Parish Blvd., Ocoee, FL 34761 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, on Saturday, May 1, 2021 with a Funeral Service from 10:30 am to 11:30 am which will be broadcast for those wishing to attend virtually via the DeGusipe Funeral Home Facebook Live page here:

Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:30 am at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL
