Naomi Pearl Norris
1931 – 2023
Naomi "Pearl" Norris went to be with the Lord on December 28th, 2023. Naomi was born May 25, 1931 in Chadbourn, NC. She is predeceased by her husband Harry L. Norris Sr., her daughter Wanda Foster, her sister Margaret Fassett, and her parents, Leon and Mary Mercer. She is survived by her sons Ken (Kellie) of Currituck, NC, Michael (Kathi) of Pinellas Park, FL and Harry Jr. (Crystal) of Rutherfordton, NC. She is also survived by her sister, Irene McCrackin of Little River, SC and brother, Joe Mercer of Fanning Springs, FL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Her eleven grandchildren include Eric Binnion, Julie Carrasquillo, Ken Norris Jr., Patrick Norris, Michael Norris Jr., Philip Norris, Andrea Norris, Lindsey Norris, Sydney Norris, and Jake Norris and Alexandra Sherlin.
Great grandchildren include Marla and Jacob Binnion, Isabella and Racquel Carrasquillo, Samantha and Kenneth L. Norris III, Andrew Sherlin, Hunter, Faith, and Christian Skaggs and Alanna Christian. Pearl moved to St. Petersburg, FL with her family in 1946 and married Harry Norris in 1950. She moved with her young children numerous times between Puerto Rico, California, and Florida when her husband was transferred to different duty stations with the Coast Guard.
Pearl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, but she is best known for her faith in God. She served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, pianist and prayer warrior. In her later years she led the prayer group that met each Monday morning. If you visited her home, it was rare that she did not receive a phone call from a friend, acquaintance, or family member requesting prayer.
A celebration of life will be held at Elevated Church, 4371-76th Ave. N. Pinellas Park, FL on January 27, 2024. A photo tribute will begin at 10:30 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
