Nancy S. Skura, age 74, peacefully walked into the arms of Jesus on February 21, 2026. She was surrounded by her beloved family, who ushered her home while singing worship songs at her bedside. She was welcomed into Heaven by her precious husband, Stanley Skura, and her loving parents, Fred and Lola French.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Jeff Sears (Billie Sears), Dan Sears, and Jessica Carroll (Eric Carroll); her grandchildren, Adreanna Sears, Zach Sears, Logan Sears, Grace Carroll, Leah Carroll, Andrew Warren, and Cody Warren, each of whom she loved deeply; her great-grandchild, CJ; and several beloved grandpups.
In this earthly life, she was a dedicated employee, serving as an accountant and office manager throughout different seasons of her career, but her heart and passion were always for her family. She said that she was proud of no accomplishment greater than raising and caring for them. Whether through living room chats, cheering on milestones and performances, showing up in the day-to-day, or preparing for the next hurricane, no one in her family ever doubted for a second that she loved them with all her heart.
Nancy never sought the spotlight and would always turn the focus to others and to Christ. She faithfully encouraged family and friends by sending Scripture and asking how she could pray for them. She never missed a birthday card and always included a thoughtful, personal note. Nancy was kind, selfless, intelligent, gentle, patriotic, quick-witted, and incredibly patient—and she was loved by all in her orbit.
A deep love for music shaped much of her life, especially contemporary Christian in her later years. She studied to become a music teacher and played multiple instruments, including the piano and accordion. She found great joy and peace in the ocean, and her happiest days were spent sailing alongside her husband, Stan, on their sailboat, The Ice Lady. An avid reader, she also loved it when she could travel, especially to historical sites, always eager to learn and experience the stories of the past.
Nancy found Jesus later in life and quickly grew into an ardent and devoted disciple. She was a faithful member of Calvary Chapel Fellowship in St. Petersburg and a familiar, welcoming presence in the café on Sunday mornings. Known as a prayer warrior and student of theology, she had a special interest in end-times teaching. In 2024, she retired from work and, despite declining health, became a Commissioned Chaplain through Chaplains' Outreach Ministries. She loved teaching in nursing homes and spent countless hours preparing lessons and pouring into those she served.
A celebration of life for Nancy Skura will be held at Feather Sound Church at 5:00pm on April 29, 2026. Nancy wanted this ceremony to be a celebration, so please wear your favorite shade of blue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse in her memory:
