Nancy Jones Rhode, 75, passed away on January 28, 2020 at her home in
Casselberry, FL. Nancy was born on March 25, 1944 in Childress, TX.
While attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1963 she met
Raymond Rhode on a Christmas Eve blind date arranged by their respective roommates. They were married on Nov 27 1965.
During the next twenty years Nancy was largely responsible for the raising
of their two children, a son Chriss, and a daughter Kari as the family
moved frequently because of Raymond's Air Force service. Nancy did find
time to teach pre-school and develop her many craft skills including doll
making, embroidery, and card making. While living in Niceville, FL, Nancy started a volunteer craft program at the local assisted living facility and continued that program for 25 years. The sale of the craft items helped fund activities for the residents and that program continues today. Nancy also made time to serve as a band parent and managed the sports concession stands for both middle school and high school. Also while in Niceville, Nancy and Ray took up sailing and had a number of extended boating adventures. In 2012 on her birthday Nancy was confirmed in the Catholic Church.
The onset of Alzheimer's and declining health led, in 2017, to a move to
Casselberry in order to be close to the children and grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by her husband Raymond Rhode and her brother Ralph
Jones. She is also survived by her son Raymond C Rhode, his wife Yvette
Rhode and their daughters Morgan and Madison and her daughter Karen
Antalek, her husband Eric Antalek and their sons Ryan and Benjamin.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of AdventHealth
Hospice for the compassionate care given to Nancy and her family.
Arrangements entrusted to DeGusipe Funeral Home and Crematory and
visitation will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 N. Orange Ave.
