Muriel Fleming Archer (born Thomson), 87, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in Orlando, Florida. She was born in Orange, New Jersey on December 28, 1930, to the late James and May Fleming Thomson (born Jackson). Muriel was raised in Durban, South Africa where she met and married the late Edward George Archer. They divorced in the early 70's. Muriel had a career in Music singing Opera both professionally and as a hobby. She was involved in her church, Greyville Presbyterian where she spent many hours of her free time. She worked for the City of Durban for many years before retiring and moving back to the United States to be with her Daughter and Son-in-law.

During her retirement years she worked for Polk County and Walt Disney World. She loved her weekend job at Walt Disney helping young ladies pick out their perfect Princess outfit. She had many hobbies which included cross stitch, sewing and knitting. When she was still able she enjoyed singing in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot.

Muriel was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who volunteered many hours at her grandsons school both in the classroom and at home with projects.

Muriel is survived by her son Richard George Archer who lives in South Africa and her daughter Cheryl Fleming Courier (Brett) and grandchildren, Candice Lea Archer, Ricci Lee Archer and James William Courier.
Muriel will be remembered for her strength of character, her unconditional love, and her kindness to others.

A celebration of her life will be held later this year in South Africa where her children and grandchildren can be together. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or Dementia Society of America.
