Murdina Elizabeth Brown lived an extraordinary, humble and exemplary life. Born in Marlie's Hill district, St. Catherine, in Jamaica, West Indies, Murdina Simpson was the youngest of seven children (Horatio, Willie, Lenny, Beatrice, Louise & Miriam). She shared a very close bond with her siblings, and at an early age suffered the loss of her father, who died after he travelled to Cuba, and she eventually lost her mother, affectionately known as Aunt, who had continued to live in Jamaica. After several of her siblings migrated to England, her eldest brother, Horatio (Papa), who was a tailor, took her under his wings and trained her to become a successful seamstress or dressmaker.

Eventually, Murdina met Aston Brown. They married and moved to Kingston, Jamaica, where they had 3 children, Madge, James and Sonia. Murdina was a devoted mother, who reared her children in a Christian home, and they became outstanding members of society. Aunt Murd, as she was affectionately called, used the fabric of her existence to show love and compassion, not only to her relatives, but also to individuals with whom she interacted daily. She was a wonderful person who poured the milk of human kindness to sustain those who needed her help.

After her divorce from her late husband, Murdina migrated to the United States with Sonia, who had just graduated as a RN, and was placed in New York. There, Murdina cared for her grand-daughter, Jody-Ann, providing the care that she needed. Eventually, Murdina, Sonia and Jody-Ann relocated to Orlando, where they resided until the passing of Sonia, who battled cancer. During Sonia's long illness, Murdina was an excellent caregiver, travelling relentlessly every week back and forth to Georgia, for her daughter to receive oncology treatment. She provided the strength and support that only a devoted, caring mother could, again demonstrating her impeccable human virtue. Based on her outstanding angelic qualities, without doubt Murdina is assured a special place in heaven. During her final years, Murdina lived with and received care from her niece, Pat (Cheriana).

She is survived by 2 children, Madge and James; Grand-children, Jody-Ann, Mark, Kirk-John, James and Richard; 3 great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews, including Pat (Cheriana), Doris, Diane, Eva, Mary (Canada), Seymour (Canada), Stanford (Canada), Aston (England)…………………… ; Daughter-in-law, Thomasina, and Son-in-law, Cardinal.
