Michael Edwards Riggs, Jr., age 12 years, affectionately known as Mikey, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on April 19, 2022, in Memphis, Tennessee. Mikey was born on July 2, 2009 in Orlando, Florida, the only son of Raquel M. Carrillo-Riggs and Michael E. Riggs, Sr.

Mikey is survived by his parents and grandparents, Abuela Ramona Carrillo, Grandma Peg, and Grandpa Joe, he is also survived by his Aunts and Uncles, Sara Carrillo, Pamela and Samuel Chappell, Alicia and Michael Carrillo, Louisa and David McCullough and Colleen and Robert Zapfel.

Mikey was an honor student at Faith Christian Academy, a member of the National Junior Honor Society, a soccer, basketball, and cross country athlete. He also played the trombone to name a few of his talents and accomplishments. Mikey was a kind, caring and a fun loving spirit that loved animals and all the normal things 12yr old boys enjoy.

His relaxed personality made him very likable and easily loved. He was a friend to all that knew him. Mikey loved spending time with his family and was deeply loved by them all. He was such an amazing little human, he had accomplished so much before being diagnosed with medulloblastoma in October of 2021. The diagnosis and treatment was not an easy course and through the many struggles he held strong and focused on beating his cancer! He was on his way to a successful completion of his treatments and looking forward to returning home to be with family and friends.

We know his fight is over and while we his family and friends will continue to mourn his loss we are comforted by our faith and our loving memories of our sweet Mikey.
