Melvin Thomas Lacock was born June 11, 1934, and entered the glorious presence of our Lord on July 1, 2022.
He was the 3rd of 10 children born to Thomas and Alpha Lacock in Hinsdale, MT.
After graduating from Bob Jones University, Mel enlisted in the Air Force and served 4 years. He returned to graduate school at Bob Jones University and, while there, met and married Julie Clinard. The Lord blessed them with 5 children.
God moved upon Mel's heart, while in the Air Force, to be a missionary to the people of Asia. Thus from 1965-1982, Mel served first in Taiwan, then in Hong Kong with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.
In 1982, Mel returned to the States to begin introducing the ministry of Won By One, a Bible Study/Discipleship course that he authored, as a tool for churches to use. God greatly blessed that ministry and today it is used in churches worldwide.
Mel is survived by his wife, Julie; 5 children, Tim (Tammy) Lacock of Three Hills, Alberta, Canada; Mary (Joel) Cooper of Maitland, Florida; Annette (Jeff) Tompkins of Folsom, California; Jerry (Rebecca) Lacock of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Tom (Stephanie) Lacock of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Mel had 9 sisters that he loved and adored; 7 are still surviving—Evelyn Beil, Leora Needham, Zella Farrell, Elaine Dyer, Connie Young, Geneva Anderson and Lois Rutherford. He is predeceased by Eva Tucker and Laverne Davis.
He had a passel of grandkids—Tina, TJ, Tyler and Tara Lacock; Brienne, Lindee, Jaiden, Deaglan and Elly Rose Cooper; Carissa and Karyn Tompkins; Trenton, Trevor, Janie, Dinah and Zane Lacock; Keelan, Camden, Ireland, Hudson and Fallon Lacock.
