Obituary

Mattie Bell Jackson, was born on August 13, 1933 in Kathleen, Georgia. She was one of four children born to George Everett and Marie Bryant. She attended school in Perry, Georgia. On December 29, 1948, she gave birth to a handsome son, Ulysses Everett. In 1951 Mattie Bell and her son relocated to Miami, Florida. After moving to Miami, Florida she met and fell in love with Ray James Cuyler and united in matrimony. Although this marriage was dissolved later, they remained lifelong friends.
As a young adult, Mattie Bell took an interest in hair maintenance, cosmetology, and entrepreneurship. In 1958, she pursued her career goals by enrolling and graduating from Sunlight School of Beauty Culture in Miami, Florida. Soon afterwards, she opened Mattie's House of Beauty in Miami, Florida. As the owner and beautician of the salon, she provided services to the residents of the community. In 2000, Mattie Bell retired from this profession.
Mattie Bell Jackson was a faithful member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Miami, Florida and served as a deaconess. She was a loving mother, and aunt. She loved her family and friends. Mattie Bell enjoyed the cooking and gardening.
Mattie Bell's journey on this side of earth ended on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, with her family by her side when the Lord in His infinite wisdom, the one who does all things perfectly, sent an angel to her bedside to escort her to her eternal home in glory.
Mattie Bell was preceded in death by her parents, George Everett and Marie Everett Bryant; son, Ulysses Everett; siblings, Willie James Everett, Sr., Lizzie Richardson and Estelle Clarington; and a special first cousin/sister, Mary Elizabeth Ricks.
She leaves to cherish her loving and fond memories: two nieces, Margaret Everett of Apopka, Florida, and Theresa Bonita Everett of Miami, Florida, three nephews, James Allen Everett, Anthony Everett, and Eric Everett all of Miami, Florida, and a host of loving relatives, church family, and friends who will miss her dearly.
