Obituary

Matthew Daniel Carlin, born April 26, 2001, in Summit, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on December 10, 2023, in Winter Park, FL. Matthew was raised in Westfield, NJ, and moved to Winter Park at age 12, taking quickly to Florida and newfound activities like surfing, longboarding, and especially fishing. He graduated from Winter Park High School in 2019 where he was co-captain of the Cross Country Track Team, went to college in Tallahassee, and eventually returned to Winter Park to live near his mother. Matthew was a hard worker, a passionate personality, and was incredibly well organized. He always had a unique sense of humor and a beautiful smile, was a critical thinker, and was smarter than most realized. Matthew was caring, and an ardent supporter of the Dictionary Project. His greatest love was his sweet dog, who is now in need of a new home.

Matthew is so loved and will be missed tremendously. He is survived by his loving parents, Maria Villa Carlin (Steve) and Daniel Carlin (Sarah), his older sister, Katrina Marrero (Jose), and his half-brother Daniel Carlin. Matthew also leaves behind his nephew and several grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles who love him dearly.

Matthew's funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5300 Old Howell Branch Rd., Winter Park, FL with a graveside service to follow.

Private family viewing at DeGusipe Funeral Home, Maitland, prior to the funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give your children a hug every time you see them and always let "I Love You" be the last words you say to them when you part.
