Mary E. "Winkie" LeFils, age 91, of Osteen, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 18,
2026. She was born in Darlington, South Carolina, on July 24, 1934, to James E. and Mary A.
Blackman.
Winkie had a lifelong passion for the Council of Catholic Women, serving with faith,
leadership, and dedication since 1958. A devout Catholic since the age of 16, she was a
longtime member of All Souls Catholic Church, where serving as a lector at Mass was one of
her greatest honors. She was also a member of the Florida Farm Bureau, where she served as a
State Director, the Florida Cowbells Association, and the World Union of Catholic Women's
Organizations (WUCWO).
Winkie was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Mary A. Blackman; her husband,
Donald F. LeFils Sr.; her son, Donald F. LeFils Jr.; and her daughter, Deborah Anne.
She leaves behind her children: Libbey of DeBary, Jim (Jody) of Osteen, Susan (Jeff) of Osteen,
Greg (Susie) of Osteen, Teresa (Mike) of Summertown, Tennessee, Patricia of Ocala, and
Sharon (Scott) of Ocala. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 3
great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her, and may she rest in peace.
