Mary Elizabeth Leahy Deans, age 71 of Longwood went to be with God on July 18, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 50 years David Deans; four daughters, Kara Halbach, Kimberly Sams, Betsey Szymanski, and Jennifer Schirmer; grandchildren Alexis Marrero-Deans, Tanner Halbach, Dylan Halbach, Brooke Halbach, Tyler Szymanski, Hailey Szymanski, Reagan Schirmer, Rachel Halbach and Charlie Schirmer.

Mom, "...what an amazing life you had, against all odds. How you met Dad the first day of school freshman year at Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth Massachusetts. How you graduated from Northeastern University in Boston and went into nursing and then social work. How you were diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was in high school. How you defied all odds and outlived your 3-year prognosis and gave us all another 30 years! How you went on to become a published author. How you were able to attend all 4 of your daughter's college graduations. How you were able to watch 2 of your daughters marry Scott's and 2 of your daughters marry Mark's. How you were able to rock all 9 grandbabies and how you had just celebrated 50 years of marriage to the love of your life. We know your body was tired...but we still can't believe you're gone "

Children have always had a special place in my Mary's heart. The Mary Elizabeth Leahy Deans foundation will award an annual college scholarship to a deserving child.
