Mary Therese Culhane's Obituary
Mary Therese Culhane ("Micki" to her friends and family), 80 of Leesburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020.
Born January 14, 1940 in Jamaica, New York, she was the daughter of the late Stanley Lyman Trecartin and Katherine Veronica O'Brien Trecartin. Mary attended nursing school at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Queens, New York where she became a Registered Nurse. After working for many years in a hospital, Mary spent most of her nursing career in private schools in Garden City, New York where she was the school nurse.
Mary was an avid golfer, loved the beaches from Long Island, New York to Juno Beach, Florida and traveled often with her husband and family. Mary loved to decorate her home, shop and try out new recipes which resulted in delicious creations. If you ask her grandchildren, their favorite recipe would have to be the "Grandma Drink" which only Grandma knew the recipe for (it was grape soda and ginger ale but always special to the kids because Grandma made it with love.)
She is predeceased by her children, Mary Katherine and Daniel Matthew; her siblings Richard Trecartin, Stanley Trecartin, Katherine Poggis and Eleanor Saunders.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, David Wray Culhane; three sons, Michael W. Culhane and wife Amy of Longwood, FL, Steven T. Culhane and wife Karen of Lakeland, FL, David R. Culhane of Longwood, FL; five grandchildren, Chris, Liam, Katelyn, James and Kevin; brother, William Trecartin of Hilton Head Island, SC.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Catholic Community of St. Paul, 1330 Sunshine Ave., Leesburg, FL 34748. Those who plan to attend are respectfully asked to wear a mask and follow CDC social distancing guidelines. The Mass may also be viewed via live stream by following the link below:
