Obituary

Martin Hopkins, age 80, of Altamonte Springs, FL passed away Wednesday
March 2, 2016. Born in Hughestown, PA, Marty moved to Hoboken, NJ at
age 4. While in high school he was an amateur boxer who trained and
sparred with professionals and was training for the Golden Gloves when he moved with his family to Longwood, FL. He attended Lyman High School
and played on their football and basketball teams. In 1954 he joined the United States Army and was stationed in Japan and Korea. He played on his company basketball team. He later returned to Central Florida and went to work for the Harry P. Leu Company and learned the builders hardware trade. In 1961 he married Loran Brough at St. James Catholic Cathedral. From
1966 to 1977 he was the Corbin lock representative for the state of Florida and became one of the state's most respected Architectural Hardware Consultants. Marty won awards for articles he submitted for publication in the Door and Hardware Institute magazine. In October 1983 he opened his own distribution company, Hopkins Contract Hardware, Inc. He retired in 2007. Marty was an avid golfer and sports fan. He is survived by Loran, his wife of 54 years, his son Matthew, and his two daughters Christine and Erin.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in
Altamonte Springs on Thursday March 10, 2016 at 10AM.
