Marie Alexander Smith, 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Born in Philadelphia on July 22, 1944, she was the daughter of James Kennedy and Ethel (Fraunces)Alexander. She is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, David J. C. Smith and their children, Christine M. Griffith (David) and David A. Smith. Marie was an incredibly proud and devoted “Mom-Mom” to herwonderful grandsons, Steven and Brian. She is also survived by her brother James L. Alexander (Elizabeth).

Marie will always be remembered for her unwavering commitment to family. She made a friend wherever she went. To know her was to love her.

Marie was active in supporting her children’s school and served as vice president of the PTA and chairperson of several fundraising campaigns. She loved animals,bowling and watching game shows. She looked forward to annual family get togethers at the Longboat Key Club.

The family will forever be thankful for the legacy she built and the love that she shared with each of us.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Advent Hospital, Winter Park for their remarkable care and compassionate support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park Florida, on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 1 o’clock PM with areception to follow in the parish hall. Interment will be at Queen of Angels Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marie’s honor to the St. Margaret Mary School, 142 E. Swoope Avenue, Winter Park, Florida 32789 or the charity of your choice.
