Marie-Antoinette "Toni" (Hort) Edgar, 71, of Pinellas Park, FL, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2022. Toni was born on February 15, 1951, to Alfred J. and Olga A. Hort in Roslyn, NY.

In 1957, her family moved to St. Petersburg, FL. She was a 1969 graduate of Boca Ciega High School and in 1971, she met Timothy Edgar where they worked at Chad Volkswagen. They were married two weeks later. Tim and Toni shared a happy life together for almost 40 years until his passing in 2011.

Toni was a "stay at home Mom" for many years before taking a job as an administrative secretary at Blanton Elementary and Southern Oak Elementary Schools. She worked for the same Principal for more than 20 years before retiring in 2006. She took pride in her work and loved what she did. After retirement, she was a "stay at home Grammie" where she devoted her time selflessly to her children and grandbabies.

Toni was an avid DIY'er from crafting to quilting, she was always working on a new project or "Edgarizing" things around the house. She enjoyed antiquing with her sister and working out or walking with her friends. She loved her kitties, her Daisy Mae and working in her yard, but her most favorite of all was being a Mom and Grammie. Toni never missed an event; from ball games to "Happy Hand" performances, she was in the crowd cheering on her favorite person. Holidays and birthdays were always special, and she usually had all her Christmas shopping done by November. She still filled our stockings, sang us Happy Birthday and decorated her yard for every holiday.

She was predeceased by her husband, Timothy Edgar; son, Timothy "Chad" Edgar; Parents and sister, Carol Lynn (Hort) Gaydica of Long Island, New York.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Shane Edgar of Palm Harbor, Florida; Chelsey Gonzalez of Clearwater, Florida; Shilo Edgar of Largo, Florida; her sister, Otta (Hort) Nursey of St Petersburg, Florida; her Nephew, Aaron (Heidi, Sierra & Caleb) Nursey of Tampa, Florida; two granddaughters, Emersen Gonzalez and Chaisen Gonzalez; nieces, nephews and many friends. Having lived in the same home for 50 years she was an icon in the neighborhood.

A service for Toni will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 from 1pm – 3pm at R. Lee Williams and Son Funeral Home – 3530- 49th Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33711. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to Save our Strays, Inc.
Interment will be at Bay Pines National Cemetery at a later date where she will be laid to rest with our Dad.
