Maria Paz Matawaran, 63, peacefully went home in the arms of Jesus on Friday May 12, 2023. She battled cancer for 4 and a half years. Maria Paz was born in Morong, Rizal Philippines on January 24, 1960 to the late Julio and Esperanza Dolores. Maria is survived by her husband, Edgardo Matawaran, and their sons Edward (Claire) and Phillip. Maria is also survived by her siblings Eranio (Susan) Dolores, Patria (Paul) McElroy, Benneth Lakilak, Faustino (Edna) Dolores, Eugene (Catherine) Dolores, Gilbert Dolores, Julius (Myla) Dolores; her late siblings Lillian Sarmiento and Estella San Juan; and several loving nieces and nephews. Maria was a devoted employee at the St. Petersburg Times. Maria loved shopping, cooking and spending quality time with her extended family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her loving family.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday May 27, 2023 with a gathering from 9AM to 10AM and the service starting at 10AM. Inurnment of ashes at a later date with immediate family.
