It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Del Carmen Lugo, who passed away on July 24, 2026, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 63, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on May 22, 1963, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Maria lived a life defined by family, her career, and close friends. She was the beloved daughter of Nydia Irizarry and Jorge Perez and was known for her quick wit, warm heart, and deep compassion for everyone around her. She had a remarkable ability to bring comfort, laughter, and kindness to those fortunate enough to know her.

With a doctorate's degree from University of Florida, Maria dedicated more than 30 years of her life to serving others as a pharmacist in the hospital setting. She was deeply respected by her colleagues and admired for her professionalism, tireless work ethic, and commitment to providing compassionate care to her patients. Her dedication to her profession and her community left a lasting impact on countless lives. Above all, Maria treasured her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of more than 30 years, Juan Lugo; her beloved children, Darlene Lugo and Alexander Lugo; as well as her siblings, cousins, extended family, dear friends, and all whose lives were enriched by her love and friendship.

Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now free from pain and at peace. Maria's legacy of love, diligence, and selfless service will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, former colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. 

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
