Obituary

Margaret Louise Whitsett, known affectionately as Louise, was born in Orlando, Florida, to Mary Wiley and Harold Francis McCarthy on April 22, 1936. She spent her childhood in Central Florida, where she developed the strength, independence, and spirited nature that would define her life.

Louise married Don Gene Carter in 1954, and together they welcomed two sons, Craig Alan Carter and Kenneth Carter. She later made her home in Altamonte Springs and married John Brosnan, with whom she joyfully welcomed her third son, John "Johnny" Brosnan.

A gifted professional with a natural talent for organization and connection, Louise built a long and successful career as a meeting and event planner for the Institute of Internal Auditors. She excelled in her work, embracing both the challenges and the opportunities it brought. The travel associated with her role allowed her to explore new places, meet new people, and fully enjoy the world around her, something she cherished deeply. Louise loved life, and she lived it with energy, curiosity, and an unmistakable spark.
In 1983, Louise married the love of her life, Glenn Whitsett. Their 27 years together were filled with devotion, partnership, and a shared appreciation for family and adventure. During her years with Glenn, their home was filled with laughter, warmth, and the steady presence of the dogs she adored. Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don Carter, John Brosnan, and Glenn Whitsett; her sons Kenneth Carter and John Brosnan; and her great-granddaughter, Alexis Kate Fillinger.

She is survived by her son Craig Carter (Marina Nice); former daughters-in-law Dawn Delyser and Jimmie Kay Howard; and her grandchildren Jason Carter (Laura Carter), Corey Carter (Emily Wong Carter), Neil Carter, Jessie Carter Mills (Austin), and Amy Fillinger. She also leaves behind a legacy of great-grandchildren: Riley Sullivan, Madison Cook, Rhys Carter, Liam Carter, Lilian Carter, Julian Carter, Colin Wong Carter, Kai Wong Carter, and Aidan Mills.

Louise is additionally survived by her stepchildren William Whitsett, Glen Whitsett Jr., (Valerie) and Linda Vaughn (Kevin), along with their families, who were an important part of her life.
Louise passed away on January 22, 2026, leaving behind a family and many friends who adored her and a lifetime of memories that reflect her resilience, generosity, and vibrant spirit. She will be remembered as a woman who embraced every chapter of her life with grace, humor, and an open heart.
