Margaret "Marge" Swiatosz (nee Lupp) died peacefully in Maitland, Florida on March 25, 2024 at the
age of 96.
Marge is survived by her children Susan, Mark, and Judy. She is preceded in death by husband Edmund
"Ed" Swiatosz and sister Elizabeth "Betty" Levin.
Marge was born on September 28, 1927 in Buffalo, New York to Hilda and Gottfried Lupp. She
graduated from Girls Vocational High School in 1946 with a specialty in clothing design and
construction. She subsequently worked as a seamstress for custom designed apparel. She married Ed
Swiatosz in 1953, and shortly thereafter they moved to Caracas, Venezuela. In 1955 the pair returned to
Buffalo and started their family.
In 1966 Marge, Ed, and their three children moved to Central Florida, settling in Maitland where she
lived amongst her friends and neighbors in Florida Haven. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and
grandmother, Marge was a member of the local Catholic church, St. Mary Magdalen, for over 50 years.
She volunteered in many capacities at the church including teaching religious instruction to youth (12
years), counting the Sunday collection, making prayer blankets and rosaries, assisting at Bingo, and
acting as an Office Angel. Marge was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Circle, worked at the
school office, and volunteered with husband Ed at the church's Fall Festival. In addition to her church-
related activities, Marge delivered Meals-on-Wheels for many years, was an assistant Girl Scout Leader
and helped with 4-H activities.
Marge was known by all as an avid card and game player, and belonged to a tight-knit bridge group,
"The Supremes," for several decades. She was very creative and sewed most of her own clothing as a
young woman. She later created beautiful quilts, most of which she generously gave as gifts or donated
to charity. Marge was an enthusiastic reader and belonged to several book groups including the
Neighbors Network Book Club. A keen gardener, Marge fostered many generations of Monarch
butterflies. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge about butterfly gardening with her family, particularly
with her grandsons. Marge loved traveling and toured Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, and most of the
United States. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends, and her church community, her
sharp sense of humor, and her ability to win most games she played.
Marge will be missed by her children, two brothers Fred Lupp and Rudolph "Rudy" Lupp, sister-in-law
Dianne Lupp, son-in-law Richard Harris, grandchildren Sean Harris and Ian Harris, her nieces and
nephews, and all her many friends whose lives she touched.
Marge's funeral is scheduled for Friday April 12, 2024 at 10am at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church
